Picasso is an autonomous system for man-overboard (MOB) rescue operations. Designed for on-board installation, the technology comprises an aerial drone with optical sensors, an automated algorithm with which to recognise targets, and a first-aid feature.
Advantages include autonomous navigation, detection, and retrieval, as well as automatic take-off/landing features and real-time imaging technology.
The structure of the drone is designed to withstand marine conditions and offer target detection and navigation services. The operators can access information about the mission through the control unit and can manage the drone.
All images are software-analysed. An on-board controller machine-runs the recognition data, and the images are localised on the map for visual inspection. With the help of a Wi-Fi radio link, the control panel and the drone communicate.
