Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard and US-based Black & Veatch have awarded an electrical and automation contract to Kongsberg Maritime for Golar Hilli Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG).
Under the contract, Kongsberg will deliver an electrical package and safety and automation system for Golar LNG’s conversion of the ex-LNG Carrier Golar Hilli to an FLNG production unit.

By GlobalDataThe electrical package to be supplied by Kongsberg includes high and low-voltage distribution boards, as well as transformers.
In addition, the company will engineer design and philosophy documents, as well as electrical analysis.
Kongsberg claims that the latest contract demonstrates the company’s capabilities and its position within the marine automation for offshore oil and gas production units.
Kongsberg Maritime global sales and marketing executive vice-president Stene Førsund said: "We are very proud to have been chosen as a main supplier for Golar Hilli.
"Like many of our recent contracts, the order for Golar Hilli covers extensive hardware, software and system engineering expertise."
According to Kongsberg, the company’s technology will serve as solution of the integrated control and safety system (ICSS) for the new FLNG.
As well as participating with integrated engineering services to the various main contractors, the company will support installation and commissioning of the delivered systems.
