TransCanada to build $2.1bn Sur de Texas-Tuxpan pipeline in Mexico
TransCanada and its joint venture with Sempra Energy’s subsidiary IEnova and Infraestructura Marina del Golfo (IMG) secured a contract for the $2.1bn Sur de Texas-Tuxpan offshore natural gas pipeline in Mexico.
Under the contract, TransCanada and its partners will build, own and operate the 800km pipeline, which is the recent addition to TransCanada’s expanding portfolio in Mexico.
The latest project will be supported by a natural gas transportation service contract signed for a period of 25 years for 2.6 billion cubic feet a day with Mexico’s state-owned power company Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE).
Woodside and Mitsui get approval for $1.9bn Greater Enfield project development
Woodside Energy and joint venture partner Mitsui E&P secured approval for the $1.9bn Greater Enfield project development, located 60km off Exmouth in Western Australia.
The project within Commonwealth waters will develop the Laverda Canyon, Norton over Laverda and Cimatti oil accumulations.
Through a 31km subsea tie-back, the reserves will be produced to the Ngujima-Yin floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility, which is stationed over the Vincent oilfield.
Det norske’s Ivar Aasen living quarters module ready for North Sea operations
Det norske has announced that the Apply Leirvik-built Ivar Aasen living quarters module was placed on a barge in the harbour at Stord in Norway.
Later on, the 40m tall module weighing 2,300t will be lifted into place at the Ivaar Aasen platform in the North Sea.
The living quarters on Ivar Aasen with seven floors and a total area of around 3,300m², has 70 single cabins, recreation areas, offices, hospital, control rooms as well as helicopter deck.
Norway approves Statoil’s $991m development of Oseberg Vestflanken 2 field
Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy sanctioned the Nkr8.2bn ($991m) plan for development and operation (PDO) of Oseberg Vestflanken 2 field by Statoil.
The company aims to cut investment costs throughout the engineering phase and has reduced the break-even price of the project by about 30%.
As part of expansion plans, the company will drill wells at Oseberg Vestflanken 2 using the new category J rig Askepott, which is currently under construction and is owned by the Oseberg licence.
Hydratight completes John Brookes subsea pipeline project in Australia
Hydratight completed installation of an 18in Morgrip connector on the John Brookes subsea pipeline on the North West Shelf of Western Australia.
The pipeline is located 54km north-east of Quadrant Energy’s Varanus Island facilities.
Quadrant selected Hydratight on behalf of the John Brookes joint venture to engineer, manufacture, deliver and support the subsea pipeline installation.
Ireland offers 14 new offshore licensing options
The Irish Government awarded 14 new options as part of phase 2 of the 2015 Atlantic margin licensing round.
This follows on from the first round in February this year.
As part of the 2015 licensing round, a total of 28 new options have been awarded.
McDermott wins $454m contract for Pemex’s Abkatun-A2 platform in Mexico
McDermott International secured a $454m contract to provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) for Pemex’s Abkatun-A2 platform, which will be installed in Mexico’s Bay of Campeche in 124ft of water.
Under the contract, McDermott will provide a vertically integrated EPCI solution to build and commission the platform, as well as associated structures.
The Abkatun-A2 platform is set to provide replacement and expansion capabilities to the existing Ku-Maloob-Zaap, Cantarell and Ayatsil facilities.
InterMoor completes final tensioning operations for Shell’s Stones project in Gulf of Mexico
InterMoor completed the final tensioning and chain-cutting operations on the Turritella floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Shell’s deepwater Stones project in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM).
The project is located in the Walker Ridge protraction area.
The FPSO will connect to subsea infrastructure that lies 9,500ft deep.
Aker Solutions to supply umbilicals at Zohr gas field in Egypt
Norway-based oil services company Aker Solutions secured a contract worth more than Nkr1bn ($122m) to provide umbilical systems for Petrobel’s Zohr gas field in the Egyptian part of the Mediterranean Sea.
Under the agreement, Aker will deliver 180km of steel tube umbilicals that will connect the subsea development to an offshore control platform.
The umbilicals system is planned to be delivered by mid-April next year.
