Stäubli Connectors, manufacturers of innovative and technologically advanced connector solutions, announces the release of a new subsea coupling for offshore oil and gas applications. The COS08 coupling, already used for offshore subsea stab plates and manifolds, is now offered with the VR option for manual connection/disconnection by divers in turbulent subsea environments and on ROVs.
The 770bar non-spill design of the COS08 coupling is pressure balanced, so an operator needs only to overcome the springs when connecting and disconnecting. Trapped pressures in the mobile sealing area typically wear down couplings prematurely. Additionally, the design incorporates no seals in the flow path, which is utilised in other Stäubli coupling designs. This allows for high flows and the prevention or ingress of impurities to the fluid system.
