At the end of July, Well Processing’s full-scale subsea water treatment pilot plant has passed one year of operation on the seabed.
The SWIT full-scale pilot plant is the world’s first in the treatment of seawater on the seabed. Deployed in July 2009 (with funding from ConocoPhillips, Total, GDF Suez, Shell and Demo 2000), the treatment plant has now successfully completed one operational year.
Results have proven that the SWIT has a significant effect on delaying the formation of biofilm, excellent disinfectant results and a continuous reduction in solids content. The inherent simplicity of the system has also enabled a remarkable 99.7% uptime.
