Valeport is the UK’s leading manufacturer of oceanographic and hydrographic instrumentation, including the world’s most accurate sound velocity probes / sensors, our new altimeter range, new radar level sensors, current meters, tide gauges, wave recorders, CTDs, multi-parameter CTDs and GPS echo sounders. All solutions are engineered towards your monitoring challenge.

Sound velocity data, profiles and sensors

Valeport has long been associated with providing reliable products for offshore survey operations. From CTDs in the early eighties to the well-established Midas SVX2, we continue to meet customer requirements.

For sound velocity data to enhance your single or multi-beam echo sounder surveys, Valeport offers a variety of sensors and profilers. The superior performance is recognised by all multi-beam manufacturers and users, making the Valeport sensor an industry favourite in the field. Latest developments include the Rapid SV profiler, which has been developed for the fast collection of sound velocity profiles (SVP) without compromising the quality of data.

Radar level sensors

Valeport’s tide gauge range has now been enhanced by the addition of the new VRS-20 radar level sensor. The VRS-20 is a pulsed k-band radar level sensor, developed by Valeport to work seamlessly with the Valeport TideMaster, operate standalone with optional integrated GPRS telemetry to internet, or interface directly to a third-party datalogger or PC. Versatile and simple to install, the VRS-20 addresses a number of issues traditionally associated with level measurement.

Sound velocity data from an SVP, but still needing the salinity and density data from a CTD? The MIDAS SVX2 combines both technologies to give the best of both worlds.
The world's most accurate sound velocity sensor is housed in a low-drag housing, offering levels of performance unmatched by our competitors.
Valeport offers tide gauge equipment that can be deployed for both shore-based and offshore/ seabed applications.
Valeport is the only manufacturer offering a combined altimeter and pressure sensor in such a small package.

Non-contact technology removes the installation, corrosion and fouling issues of submerged sensors, while simplifying datum control. Accuracy and performance are unaffected by changes in water density and atmospheric conditions. A shore-based or fixed-structure deployment like the TideMaster can now use the radar sensor for non-contact measurement and additional Met sensors to provide quality data in real time.

Bathymetric solutions

The new VA500 altimeter delivers a new approach to the problem of underwater positioning, with state-of-the-art signal processing offering unrivalled range and performance from a 500kHz transducer.

The VA500 altimeter offers millimetre precision within a 0.1m-100m range, and RS232/RS485/0-5V and 0-10V analogue outputs with a wide range power supply within a compact, robust package to address the needs of the ROV, AUV and hydrographic community.

The option of integrating a high-accuracy pressure sensor (0.01%), as used in the MiniIPS, offers an unbeatable package for your underwater positioning requirements, especially if combined with the Midas Bathypack.
