Leading independent multi-discipline subsea engineering and training firm Jee Ltd has upgraded its state-of-the-art online training site to enhance its online and blended learning offering to the oil and gas and renewables industries.

Jee head of courses Jenny Matthew said: "The oil and gas industry is calling out for flexible training solutions that can be used as a cost-effective way of training existing and new employees. This investment in our site, based on a ‘Moodle’ learning platform, is part of Jee’s ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and flexible training programmes."

Key features of the Moodle platform include an improved, user-friendly layout so delegates can easily navigate the site and track their course progress. Online forums and chat tools enable peer-to-peer learning and knowledge transfer between delegates and tutors. The Jee Moodle platform is designed to be a supportive, integrated and interactive learning environment with tutors on-hand to monitor course progress and provide extra guidance when required.

The additions to the new platform form an integral part of the blended learning programmes that Jee has developed. Blended learning ensures learning deliveries are optimised by selecting the most appropriate delivery method for each learning outcome. For example, a Jee training course may be separated into online learning, self-study, coaching sessions and a tutor-led workshop. Central to this structure is the Moodle learning platform, which provides an online knowledge hub for learning activities.

Mrs Matthew: "With our clients in mind, we have invested in our online Moodle system to ensure that it is up-to-date, user-friendly and fully flexible. We offer clients the ability to create a bespoke training programme by choosing from a wide range of Jee’s learning materials which include over 200 course modules and access to our substantial knowledge library of case-studies, videos, worked examples, assessments and quizzes. The new features of our ‘Moodle’ site give users better control of the system, allowing them to adapt courses to suit their individual training requirements."

Jee has been training the global oil and gas industry with its subsea portfolio for 19 years and the Jee curriculum has become the benchmark for excellence in the industry. The company has built up a portfolio of 24 subsea engineering courses offered worldwide to assist in the standardisation of engineering knowledge across the global industry. Jee has trained over 6,000 professional engineers to-date and delivered courses in 33 countries.
