Bridon has scored a big win with Brazilian national petroleum company Petrobras, securing a contract to supply galvanized 34LR PI ropes to offshore rigs, further strengthening its relationship with the organisation.
Bridon Americas president Chris Dugan said: "This is great news. We have won the contract to supply cut lengths of galvanised crane rope to Petrobras.
"We are delighted to have secured this prestigious contract and we were up against some big names in the industry. This demonstrates that Bridon’s quality, performance and proven product range positions us at the forefront in technological leadership. Our lead time, technical audit and commitment to a bend fatigue analysis were contributing factors to our success."
Part of this commitment is to undertake a major bend fatigue test programme in compliance with Petrobras test specifications on 35 rope samples, containing several conventional and multi-strand constructions. The ropes involved range from 16mm through to 50mm in diameter and are used in an offshore crane application.
Petrobras is Brazil’s federal energy company with upwards of 135 production platforms, 15 refineries, 31,000km of pipelines and more than 8,000 service stations.
Chris Dugan added: "Having a local sales force, warehouse and technical team located in Macae has proven to be a fantastic success for Bridon. This local team complements the company’s strong UK-based offshore oil and gas team and we look forward to further increasing our sales in this area."
