Superior Tube and Fine Tubes showcased their oil and gas tubing range at the recent OTC Brasil, one of the world’s foremost events for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration and production.
As part of AMETEK Specialty Metal Products, a division of AMETEK, Inc., the two businesses exhibited at OTC Brasil with O’Brien Corporation.
The oil and gas industry in South America is a key focus area for US-based Superior Tube and UK-based Fine Tubes. So for both companies, the event was an excellent opportunity to promote their extensive range of offshore tubing products, from corrosion-resistant, super-austenitic, nickel alloy and titanium grades to special grade stainless-steels such as NORSOK-approved 6 Moly and Super Duplex.
Superior Tube was recently awarded a contract from TEMA India Ltd to supply heat exchanger tubing for a new floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel commissioned by Brazilian energy giant Petrobras as part of its project to develop the oil reserves in the pre-salt fields in the Santos basin off the Brazilian coast.
Sales manager for Americas Erik Latranyi commented: "Exhibiting at OTC Brasil was a strategic move on our part because we want to be ahead of the curve when oil prices recover and the market returns. We made some important contacts and had some very good discussions about tubing both for us specifically and for AMETEK, Inc., as a whole. Some excellent opportunities came out of it."
