Hatenboer-Water is pleased to announce it has been commissioned to supply water treatment solutions for two new cruise liners that are currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

The equipment conditions fresh water derived from bunkering in the harbour or seawater desalination.

Onboard solution for safe drinking water

Once stored, fresh water is post-treated in two stages: hardening by neutralising filters and disinfection with a chlorine product. Bunkered fresh water is disinfected at the intake. If required, pH is adjusted.

From the storage tanks, fresh water is pumped into the distribution systems and subsequently undergoes another cycle of disinfection and possible pH adjustment.

Chlorine content is continuously monitored by a remote point analyser in the distribution systems.

USPH

In addition to drinking water, several other water streams (such as technical water, A / C drain water and technical water) are treated.

The complete fresh water treatment system complies with USPH guidelines protecting the health of passengers and crew on board cruise vessels.

Scope of the order

The delivery by Hatenboer-Water comprises two rehardening / neutralising filters with CO2 gas dosing, as well as several dosing skids with all necessary dosing, measuring and control devices. Requisite safety measures for personnel are included.

Meyer Werft will install the equipment and Hatenboer-Water will carry out commissioning at the yard and during sea trial.

Saga Cruise Vessels

In 2015, British Saga Cruises placed an order with Meyer Werft for the delivery of a new cruise vessel named Spirit of Discovery.

It is currently being constructed in Papenburg, Germany and is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2019. The order also includes an option for a second ship, scheduled to be finalised in 2021.

The 55,900gt vessel will have an overall length of 234m (767ft), accommodating nearly 1,000 passengers.
