Inlet air filtration systems are essential for the operation of all turbomachinery. Air filtration systems have evolved from simple coarse solid particulate removal systems, to complex ones that remove solid, as well as liquid particles.

As the demand for gas turbine thermal efficiency escalate, with firing temperatures increasing and machine tolerance decreasing, gas turbines become more sensitive to particles in the combustion air, thus requiring more efficient and reliable filtration equipment. Also, the need for longer service intervals and higher output is forcing operators to optimise their installation, in both a short and long-term perspective.

Camfil Farr Power Systems now presents the new Cam-Flo XMGT and the upgraded CamGT filters, both taking air filtration to a new level, by offering extra high-class options also in the world of gas turbines.

High efficiency pre-filter, Cam-Flo XMGT

Camfil Farr, world leading in filtration technology, is releasing a new high-tech pre-filter, CamFlo-XMGT. The filter is available in filter classes F6 to F9 (EN779:2002/2011), and is specially developed for the demanding turbomachinery market. One of the XMGT’s most significant features is the exceptional ability to keep its efficiency over its entire lifetime, thanks to a unique synthetic media.

The media has been developed for lowest possible energy consumption, with a very low initial pressure drop. The innovative design, with conical shaped bags seamed in a way that allows maximum air distribution through the media surface, makes it an excellent pre-filter choice in most surroundings.

Upgraded trendsetter CamGT

Introduced more than a decade ago, found in a large number of gas turbine applications around the world, CamGT has become a trendsetter in the industry. Now, to meet increasing demands for performance and power output, we have upgraded the CamGT with a new improved filter media and reinforced polypropylene frame. Its robust heavy duty design, combined with high efficiency and low pressure drop, guarantees optimum protection and engine performance under the most demanding operating conditions.

The upgraded design also optimises filter geometry, reducing initial pressure drop. The Cam GT’s unique patented construction also features vertical pleats with hot melt separators, allowing trapped water to drain from the filter during operation. This reduces the risk of dissolved impurities to re-enter the filter and pressure drop is maintained low in high humidity conditions.

The filters have been developed at our R&D centre, located at our corporate headquarter in Sweden, and will be displayed at the PowerGen Europe show in Milan, June 6-9, stand 3D47.
