South East Asia’s only lifeboat manufacturer, Vanguard Composite Engineering, clinched its third deal, Alpha/Beta, with SBM Offshore.

The company will be supplying eight 8.5m lifeboats installed with Csafe 8.5, Vanguard’s latest series of lifeboat release and retrieval system in compliance with IMO1392 regulations, to FPSOs Cidade de Maricà (Alpha) and Cidade de Saquarema(Beta). The lifeboats will also be delivered with Vanguard’s VL115 davit system.

SBM Offshore is in charge of the construction of the two FPSOs destined for the Lula field in the pre-salt province, offshore of Brazil.

Vanguard supplied two SBM projects in 2012, Cidade de Paraty and FPSO Cidade De Ilhabela. It has been active in the Brazilian market since 2010.

Last year, Vanguard won orders to supply lifeboats and davit systems to seven drillships based on the Jurong Espadon design. The seven ships are part of a series of drillships to be constructed in Brazil to cater to oil and gas discoveries in the offshore giant pre-salt fields of the Santos Basin. The drillships will be chartered to Petrobras for a period of 15 years on delivery.
