PT. Samson Tiara, the leading provider of oil and gas industry safety training services in Indonesia, together with PT. OSCT Indonesia, the foremost and largest oil spill response centre in Indonesia, are pleased to announce the signing of an MoU, which will bring the two companies together to offer oil pollution preparedness response and cooperation (OPRC)-IMO level 1, 2 and 3 training in Indonesia.
OPRC-IMO courses are accredited by the Nautical Institute, the only international representative body for maritime professionals that accredits OPRC IMO Courses around the World on behalf of the MCA following IMO standards
Recent developments in the industry have culminated in BPMIGAS’s legislation, PTK-005/BP000000/2011 Tentang : Penanggulangan Tumpahan Minyak (oil spill response), which requires that all offshore and onshore operators meet the minimum number of personnel certified for OPRC-IMO Level 1, 2 and 3 on-duty for all operations. With this MoU, PT. Samson Tiara and PT. OSCT Indonesia are able to combine their 26 years of experience to deliver high quality, standardised, internationally recognised and accredited OPRC-IMO training.
Mr. Shawn Truesdell, marketing director for PT. Samson Tiara, and Mr. Sunandar, director of PT. OSCT Indonesia, commented, "We are very excited to be working with PT. OSCT Indonesia to deliver these training programmes. PT. OSCT Indonesia, which is affiliated with PT. Slickbar Indonesia, has over ten years of experience of combating oil spills in Indonesia. Their response teams have worked all over the country for some of the biggest names in the industry and being able to tap into their expertise and experience for delivering this training will ensure that all students get the most out of the training."
