Brooks Forgings, established in 1960, is a leading UK supplier of hot-forged and machined fastener components. With extensive in-house manufacturing capabilities, the company is able to produce standard and special-forged fasteners to suit specific requirements from customers that demand a tailored approach.
The company provides project management and technical advice, incorporating design, prototype development and manufacturing through to final product supply. While offering an unbeatable combination of manufacturing and warehousing, Brooks Forgings provides a valuable single source of forged fasteners for clients worldwide.
Forged fasteners manufactured in the UK
At the heart of Brooks Forgings’ manufacturing facility are 16 hot forging cells, each utilising the latest heating technology. The cells are each capable of forging from 10mm up to 100mm diameters and lengths of up to 6,000mm through the upset forging process.
The scope of the company’s supply includes holding-down bolts, anchor bolts, eyebolts, hammerhead T bolts, bi-hexagon bolts and nuts, socket cap screws and stud bolts. Thread forms include metric, imperial, UNF, UNC, BSF and BSW.
A key contributor to Brooks Forgings’ success is its range of on-site manufacturing capabilities. By offering forging, machining and fabrication to customers, the company eliminates the reliance on sub-contractors. This ensures full traceability and quality control during the production of components. Lead times are also improved by having a rotational method of production. Fastener components can move onto the next process, such as machining, while the batch quantity is still being forged.
Special bolts and fasteners
Many industries demand fastener components suitable for use in the most extreme conditions. Brooks Forgings works with numerous materials and is capable of supplying special bolts and fasteners that meet these requirements. Stock includes carbon alloys, stainless steel, super alloys, duplex and non-ferrous materials.
UK CNC manufacturing
The dedicated Brooks Forgings machining department now houses more than 16 CNC machines, giving the company the ability to deal with low and high volume requirements and providing customers with consistent accuracy and quality. Specialising in the production and finishing of special and standard fasteners, Brooks Forgings manufactures from customer drawings and component samples to national and international standards by reverse engineering. In-house CAD / CAM and tool-making capabilities enable the company to design and manufacture forging dies for special fasteners on short lead times.
UK fabrication capacity
Brooks Forgings offers on-site robot and flash butt welding capabilities along with traditional welding processes. These processes enable the supply of auxiliary components such as washer plates, special brackets, foundation bolt boxes and tube assemblies.
Quality assurance and inspection systems
The company’s reputation for quality is underpinned by operating to BS EN ISO 9001, throughout all stages of production. Component traceability is ensured by individual cast identification, supported by all levels of certification.
Brooks Forgings offers certificates of conformity through to BS EN 10204 2.1, 2.2, 3.1 and independent inspection to BS EN 10204 3.2. Quality plans, first article and dimensional inspection reports are available upon request. The company also conforms to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and is Achilles FPAL registered.
