A major new contract win with Subsea7 has been announced by Tekmar Group member Subsea Innovation.
Subsea Innovation is a world leader in the design, manufacture and supply of complex engineered equipment and technology used in the offshore energy market.
Subsea Innovation recently developed a next-generation seal for their Pipe in Pipe Waterstops, designed to deal with issues experienced when using High-Frequency Welded (HFW) pipes and seam welded pipes, which are being introduced within the industry as part of cost-saving measures.
Subsea Innovation is the only supplier in the world to have successfully tested Waterstop seals with a proven record on HFW and seam welded pipes. HFW or seam welded pipes often require localised polishing to improve the sealing ability; whereas Subsea Innovation’s next-generation SIStop® Waterstop Seal eliminates the need for this, sealing on pipes with greater surface defects and impurities.
The next-generation seals were designed and developed from Subsea Innovation’s head office in Darlington.
Following the announcement, the new SIStop® Waterstop Seal will be used on two Norwegian projects including the Skogul project for Aker BP and the Wintershall Nova project.
Dave Thompson, Managing Director of Subsea Innovation, said: “Winning these projects for a client as prestigious as Subsea 7 is recognition of the hard work of the team.”
Subsea Innovation Limited is one of Tekmar Group plc’s three primary operating companies; in addition to Tekmar Energy Limited and AgileTek Engineering Limited.
Subsea Innovation products range from large equipment handling systems, which operate on the back of installation vessels, pipeline repair clamps which protect major oil and gas pipelines, and equipment for the construction of offshore oil and gas projects. The business also has an engineering design team who develop world-leading concepts for some of the world’s most challenging environments.
Tekmar Group’s vision is to become the partner of choice for the supply and installation support of subsea protection equipment to the global offshore energy markets.
