The Hull Inspection Techniques and Strategies Joint Industry Project (HITS JIP) meeting will take place at the FPSO Research Forum on 9 October 2015, hosted by ABS in Houston, Texas, US.
The HITS JIP has made significant progress into improving inspection techniques for the floating offshore installation hulls for FPSOs, MODUs, FLNG and FSRU assets, for example, ODIN diverless underwater inspections in lieu of dry docking.
The HITS JIP is now focused on:
- Minimising man entry into confined spaces for inspection
- Minimising cleaning requirements for inspection of structures under residues
HITS members include a number of major operators, leading classification societies and regulators and service providers.
The HITS JIP is managed by EM&I, a leading asset integrity services provider focused on the floating offshore installations sector.
HITS project director Danny Constantinis will be making a presentation and participating in a panel discussion on the topic of advanced survey techniques at the 35th FPSO Research Forum Day on Wednesday 7 October.
