Tideland Signal held a seminar in Istanbul in April to highlight a number of products including the TSD (Tideland Smart Display) advanced AIS viewer, and to launch the Nova 65 lantern.
The three-day event attracted Tideland agents and customers from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including Robin Jansen who represents Tideland in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium and who described the new Nova 65 as "a very versatile lantern with exceptional performance – a real winner".
The Nova 65 lantern has an unparalleled vertical divergence of 20 ° and provides a minimum range of 5NM in any colour. It is also available in 10 °and 5 ° versions, and with either a plastic or a metal housing. It can be powered from an external 9-36VDC supply or in self contained format as the SolaNOVA 65 SC.
Tideland’s TSD is an advanced AIS viewer that not only displays all AIS targets, including AIS AtoN, but gives the user an exceptional level of control over target filtering and the creation of watch areas. It has full record and playback facilities and an additional option allows integration and display of remote monitoring data provided by AIS AtoNs. Per Helgeland of Tranberg, which has had a long association with Tideland commented, "The user control over the many features of this software will make it an attractive and cost effective proposition for many small and medium sized ports around the world".
The social high point of the event was a dinner hosted by Tideland’s agent in Turkey, Cihan Dalmis of Helper. Typical Turkish food accompanied by live (and lively) entertainment had many of the delegates dancing to the music of a four-piece band.
