Tideland Signal has supplied Maersk Oil and Gas with a comprehensive package of Syncrolan light stations and fog signals for the refurbishment of warning systems marking the East Tyra platforms in the Danish sector of the North Sea.
The new systems comprise two main Syncrolan light stations, two fog signals, six subsidiary lights and a central RAS/RMC alarm and monitor panel. All equipment is ATEX certified for use in Zone 1 (Cat 2) hazardous areas.
Tideland’s Syncrolan light stations combine an ML-300-SL-400-EX main light and FLMC-4 multi-code flasher with a ML-300 EX secondary light equipped with a DuoFlash EX multi code flasher. The unit is mounted on a stainless steel pedestal incorporating a control station complete with local charger and battery.
The fog signal stations each comprise an AB-68 fog signal mounted on a stainless steel pedestal which also incorporates an Exd control enclosure housing a battery charger and monitoring circuits. Controls for the four Syncrolan stations are located with the equipment but the central RASRMC panel indicates the status of the equipment and provides photocell override to allow the lights to be switched on during daytime and a fog signal silent switch to silence the fog signals.
The subsidiary beacons are all Tideland ML-155 units complete with a DuoFlash EX multi-code flashers and showing a red light. Of the six, five are located alongside the fog signals and the sixth on a connecting bridge.
Discovered in 1968, the Tyra Field came on stream in 1984, with an agreement to supply Denmark with a total of 55 billion cubic metres over 25 years. The field comprises two platform complexes, Tyra West and Tyra East. Tyra East consists of two wellhead platforms, one processing and accommodation platform, a gas flare stack and a riser platform, as well as a bridge module supported by a STAR jacket. The complex receives production from various satellite fields and includes facilities for the final processing of gas, oil, condensate and water.
