Historically, Rotrex Winches has seen its onshore and offshore operations as quite distinct, but with the growth of significant business in the green energy sector, particularly wind farms, there is now a significant cross-over between the two operations, with turbine companies undertaking projects both on land and at sea.
Recently, one Rotrex customer hired two ten-tonne air winches for a job on an offshore wind farm. These winches have been placed on a vessel to pull the cables to the turbines. For similar applications on wind farm projects on land (and solar panel farm projects), Rotrex Winches regularly hires trailer winches.
With significant government investment in major green energy schemes, we are confident that this side of the Rotrex business can see healthy growth.
