Following the successful delivery of the replacement crane for the Seajacks Leviathan in 2012, Kenz Cranes received a repeat order for another 400t crane to be used for the installation of offshore wind turbines. Ten months after the contract was awarded, the crane had passed an extensive FAT test at the Kenz facility in Zaandam, the Netherlands. It was dismantled, sea fastened and shipped to Lamprell Shipyard Hamriyah in Dubai for installation onboard the newbuild jack-up Seajacks Hydra.
Specialising in custom-made and fit-for-purpose hoisting and lifting equipment, Kenz Cranes designed and built the crane according to Seajacks’ specifications and engineered the crane pedestal foundation. The Kenz crane is designed with a strong focus on low and easy maintenance, safety and reliability. These are facilitated by the use of redundant load cells, redundant power packs, tugger winches, cameres and other methods. The 400t crane is provided with an EX-rated boom, designed to operate while floating and capable of deepwater subsea operations. It is also perfectly suited for oil and gas industry operations.
