The Ion Science Tiger Select handheld total aromatic compound (TAC) and benzene detector has recently undergone stringent third party tests to determine its accuracy on benzene selectivity, short-term exposure limit (STEL), and TAC accuracy, with favourable results.
STEL tests were carried out on gas samples at a California, US refinery. Samples were also analysed using conventional charcoal tube/lab gc techniques. Benzene selectivity quantification was tested for interference by other potential components, and the instrument’s TAC reading correlation with total aromatic hydrocarbons was assessed.
