Swanson Industries, a worldwide distributor and supplier of hydraulic, machining, remanufacturing, plating, recently expanded its laser cladding services to accommodate components weighing up to 40,000lb and measuring up to 80ft in length and 60in in diameter. The new 80ft-long jetline laser workstation and 12kW laser provides corrosion protection that significantly increases the life span of components.
“The new laser system uses fiber optic cables which save time, energy and money,” said Mark Carter, vice president of business development, “and that’s a savings we pass on to the customer.”
The ISO-9000 registered laser processing leverages high-powered laser and CNC technology to weld overlay with metal alloys. Applications include both the external diameter and mechanical gear repairs.
“Many parts that could not be repaired by conventional means can be effectively put back into use with laser cladding,” said Carter.
For more than ten years Swanson Industries has provided superior laser cladding services to industry leaders in the mining, offshore oil, heavy equipment, steel, manufacturing, agriculture, transit, and railroad sectors. The firm is accredited by ISO 9001:2008 and offers DNV or ABS certification as required.
