In June 2015, Thermtech has completed the construction of a small-scale TCC® Test Unit, which is now available for test projects.
The TCC® Test Unit will enable Thermtech and its customers to explore the feasibility of new applications under the same conditions as a full-scale TCC® unit.
This includes testing the ability of the TCC® to recover valuable materials other than oil from different industrial waste.
Besides different kinds of oily waste such as tank bottoms, lagoons and pits, the process has shown excellent results on materials with sticky behaviour during drying.
In the process mill the heat required for the evaporation is generated directly in the material by a high-speed rotor. The combination of strong turbulence and direct heat causes immediate flash evaporation of the fluids. This special mechanism prevents the occurrence of the ‘glue phase’ in the drying process and makes it possible to dry any waste stream in one single pass.
Typical application areas:
- Bio sludge
- Fish and meat processing
- Protein and starch
- Paper and pulp
- Sewage sludge
The TCC® Test Unit is currently located at Thermtech’s R&D and test facility in Mongstad, Norway, and if required, can be easily transported to the customer’s location.
