Finland-based global welding automation leader Pemamek Oy has named Michael Bell Director of Sales for its North American subsidiary Pemamek LLC.

Pemamek provides welding automation technology and integrated manufacturing solutions to a wide range of industries, including shipbuilding, heavy fabrication, oil and gas, wind energy and boiler manufacturing. The company offers welding positioners, column and boom units, roller beds and robotic solutions, as well as proprietary PEMA WeldControl programming and control software.

Michael Bell will support sales of PEMA brand equipment and solutions throughout North America from US locations in Cincinnati, Ohio and Houston, Texas. Bell was previously the director of operations at automation equipment and software manufacturer Fastems LLC.

“I am delighted to be leading Pemamek in the launch of our North American sales efforts,” said Mr Bell. PEMA equipment and solutions are synonymous with quality, advanced engineering and above all, customer support. I am happy to embrace those attributes and enhance them as we build our networks here.”

According to Mr Bell, Pemamek will be building on its successful shipyard automation solutions and helping welding fabricators be competitive with economical workpiece and welding automation equipment.

“PEMA’s emerging technologies in panel production are making it an affordable proposition to invest in for fabricators who are welding panel structures in the railcar, ship/boat building, off/on road trailer manufacturers and many other industries,” he said. “Pemamek is proud to be on the cutting edge of welding automation and helping the industry become safer, more productive and create more consistent production results.”

Mr Bell cited that the company’s PEMA WeldControl Welding Automation Software is a forward-thinking approach in which the software communicates in concert with the workpiece automation devices, welding power supply and visioning systems. This new technology increases throughput by allowing advanced programming of the workpieces to enhance workflow. “This is why and how we can say, ‘make more with PEMA,’” said Mr Bell.

Pemamek applies all welding technologies including GMAW, SAW, Laser Hybrid and multi-gun systems to significantly increase throughput on heavy fabrication lines. Single units of equipment can be combined with robotised welding, integrated milling and custom assembly stations to fulfil specific productivity requirements.
