BASF, the world’s leading chemical company and longtime Intergraph customer, has renewed its Global Alliance Agreement (GAA) with Intergraph® for SmartPlant® Enterprise engineering software over the next three years.

The agreement extends BASF’s usage of Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise integrated engineering software suite solutions which provides full design, construction, materials and engineering data management capabilities needed for the creation, safe operation and maintenance, and capital project life cycle management (cPLM) of large scale projects. The software’s life cycle data management also enables owner operators to more easily maintain, refurbish or modify their plants.

The GAA renewal is the third between BASF and Intergraph over the past 20 years and covers BASF sites worldwide.

“We are pleased with the results SmartPlant Enterprise has delivered,” said Dr Ronald A Klein, senior manager of IT, engineering and maintenance at BASF. “We look forward to continuing and increasing the productivity and project efficiency gains we have realised to help us maintain an edge over our competitors.”

Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power and Marine president, said, “As the world leader in the chemical industry, BASF has demanding requirements that only the industry’s leading enterprise engineering software can fulfill. We are confident in enabling BASF to continue to meet its goals.”

Intergraph has been ranked the number one overall worldwide and chemical industry leader in engineering design 3D software and Process Engineering Tools (PET) according to the PET Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast through 2013 by the ARC Advisory Group.
