Composite repair provider, IMG Composites, have written a rather controversial article in this month’s edition of InnovOil.
The popular publication, which focuses on bringing the latest innovations in production, exploration and refining, ask IMG Composites to contribute a piece for the August edition. As IMG Composites’ mainly operate in the oil and gas industry, being utilised by the vast majority of major operating companies, InnovOil felt that the article would be ideal for their readership, especially as this edition is for the Offshore Europe edition.
Ian Taylor, IMG Composites’ commercial manager, felt that the article should focus on a hot topic in today’s oil and gas Industry, the efficacy of composite pipe repairs. The piece has quite a negative assessment of many composite wraps, however, Ian states that it is vital composite repair companies who wish to maintain the reputation of quality composite pipe repairs face up to the fact that not all composite repairs are good.
This is especially important at the time of the Offshore Europe Conference when some representatives at operators may be encountering composite pipe repairs on stalls for the first time and might not be aware that in terms of quality and reliability there is a great deal of difference out there. Also with the conference in mind the article, on page 22, is short and to the point, perfect for reading on a phone while you wait for a taxi to or from the conference.’
