Klinge Corporation will be exhibiting at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) from 5 – 8 May 2014 at Booth 6301 in Reliant Arena. Held annually in Houston, Texas, it is the world’s leading event for the development of offshore resources in the following areas: exploration, production, drilling, and environmental protection.
Klinge Corporation’s Offshore Reefer Unit Complies with industry safety standard
Klinge Corporation will be showcasing their Offshore Refrigeration Unit, which is explosion-proof and rated for zone 2 hazardous areas in accordance with EN 60079-10. The Offshore Refrigeration Unit, Model PFR-571 Z2, complies with the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC level of Group II, Category 3. Group II equipment is intended for use in places likely to become endangered by explosive atmospheres.
The European Union’s ATEX Directive stipulates that organizations must protect employees from explosion risk in explosive atmospheres. An explosive atmosphere is defined as a mixture of dangerous substances with air, under atmospheric conditions, in the form of gases, vapors, mist or dust in which, after ignition has occurred, combustion spreads to the entire unburned mixture. This sort of potentially explosive atmosphere is typically encountered in the offshore industry.
Klinge Corporation also manufactures an Offshore Refrigeration Unit suitable for Zone 1 Hazardous Areas that is certified to the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC level of Group II, Category 2. Both the Zone 1 and Zone 2 Offshore Refrigeration Units are available with containers certified to DNV 2-7.1.
