Sword CTSpace, global provider of project document control and collaboration solutions for the design, engineering and construction of capital-intensive projects, today announced that GDF Suez E&P Ltd selected its solutions for its Cygnus project in the North Sea.
GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd is a wholly owned oil and gas exploration and production subsidiary of the GDF SUEZ Group, active in the UK. GDF SUEZ is one of the leading energy providers in the world and is active across the entire energy value chain, in electricity and natural gas, upstream to downstream.
One of the largest undeveloped gas finds in the Southern North Sea is the Cygnus field, located within UKCS Blocks 44/12a and 44/11a. Appraisal drilling was conducted in February 2009.
A development plan for the first phase of the field was submitted and approved on 6 Aug 2009 by the Department of Energy and Climate Change. The first phase of development will focus on the eastern part of the field, consisting of 16 production wells tied-back to six platforms. Cygnus is expected to come online in 2011.
GDF Suez E&P selected Sword CTSpace software applications for project document control and collaboration with contractors for the initial design phase on this major North Sea gas field project.
