Jotron AS, a leading manufacturer of professional communication systems for land, sea and air safety, launches a recording system for operators in the offshore market. Jotron has earlier supplied audio recorder systems to offshore operators and the new SMART-OIL system adds recording of CCTV operations to the existing solution. The system offers instant synchronous replay access and integrated replay and data management.

Since 1999, Jotron has developed International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) approved recording systems for air traffic control (ATC). Their technology is installed in 500 airports worldwide. By launching SMART-OIL, Jotron recording technology will enter a new market of recording communications between helicopters, offshore platforms and vessels.

Jotron is the first to offer a recording solution exclusively developed for small onshore and offshore ATC operations. Ricochet Safe Maritime ATC Recorder Technology – Offshore Industrial Level (SMART-OIL) is tested and verified, and can be integrated with Jotron radios for ATC.

SMART-OIL can record up to three audio channels and three CCTV cameras. The recorder allows an operator to install, operate, maintain and replay all recorded data. The process is managed with few operations and recorded data can be accessed online between six and 12 months.

Synchronous recording and replaying of both audio and CCTV operations for offshore installations are mandatory in Brazil, depending on the installation and vessel size. With SMART-OIL Jotron can respond to the increasing demand for such technology.

"Global authorities and offshore operators realize the safety advantages of recording air traffic operations," says Leif Morten Ramberg, director sales and marketing energy at Jotron.

"SMART-OIL is a compact and easily maintained solution, tailor-made for the offshore market. Our worldwide partners have received extensive SMART-OIL training and we expect a strong market growth over the years."
