- Consolidated management reporting
One potential problem for the offshore oil and gas industry is that use of low speed bandwidth and satellite connection to transfer data renders many software solutions unsuitable.
Solution to low bandwidth problems
Integrum uses world-class, proven replication technology specifically designed to operate over low bandwidth connections. Integrum software allows the frequency and data volumes to be controlled to minimise the data volumes and costs of using the existing satellite data service between the vessels, platforms and head office.
Integrum databases can reside on geographically dispersed servers that can be synchronised so that all users can have access to the same information.
Smart data replication
One of the unique strengths of Integrum replication is that only the data that has changed down to a field level in a database record is replicated. This can dramatically reduce the network bandwidth that is required during replication.
Replication between two servers, or between a desktop client and a server, can occur over a network or a point-to-point modem connection and operates over very low speed connections such as dial-up asynchronous phone lines, as well digital connections such as TCP used in the Internet.
Replication between servers may occur at scheduled intervals, in near real-time when triggered by data changes in Integrum server clusters, or on an ad-hoc basis when triggered by a user or administrator or programmatically.
Integrum selective replication can limit data replicated from each remote node to a central hub and ensure data changes from other remote nodes are not replaced between each remote node in the network. This allows local nodes to see local data only, but a central hub to see a consolidated view of all data from all remote nodes.
Replication can be triggered by remote nodes to push changed data back to a central hub based on a schedule or certain data conditions in each remote node. In this way urgent or severe incidents can trigger a replication event outside of the scheduled cycle.
One of our clients, Wavefield Inseis AS, operating a fleet of vessels globally, has described Integrum as a truly world-class QHSE software, ideal for the offshore oil and gas industry.
