The Energy Products Division of Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has completed the testing of the world’s largest polyester, deepwater, mooring line. Parker began testing as a result of its qualification program as a supplier for ultra-deep water floating production units.
The polyester mooring line required a breaking strength of 2,300mt to qualify. Parker prepared two prototype samples for testing and both exceeded the breaking requirement by a substantial margin, with the highest result at 2,545mt.
Parker’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Tonsberg, Norway. Its unique deep water quayside location allows manufacturing of the longest mooring lines for a given breaking strength in the industry. With this capability, Parker can reduce the number of mooring segments, which, in turn, reduces costs and enhances the offshore installation process.
