Meerwind offshore windfarm

Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, recently assisted in the installation of monopiles and transition pieces (TP) for the Meerwind offshore wind project. Parker Maritime, a business unit of Parker’s energy products division, provided the Seajacks installation team with navigation services, survey support during installation and crane monitoring services during monopile upending.

Parker used its ParkerPMS computer and software technology for data collection and presentation, and also as the platform for the data radio link between the TP and Bridge. Other technologies used were Octans for heading and motion, GPS for heading control of the TP and positioning of the monopiles, MRU for motion and Leica Total stations for the inclination of the monopiles.

Parker joined the Seajacks team in August 2012, and the last transition piece was installed in June. Parker Maritime is proud to say that the monopile installations were completed with only two engineers, only one of whom was required for the TP installations. Seajacks offshore construction supervisor Timmo Krull said that he hopes the cooperation can continue for future projects. He said that Parker were "very flexible and helpful throughout the whole process."

The Energy Products Division (EPD) of Parker Hannifin provides innovative project solutions, with customer-focused project management, for global energy recovery. Solutions include marine hoses, power cables, mooring lines, high-pressure hoses, custom umbilicals, surveying, metrology and service.
