Although its name is relatively new, Subseatec is among the leading companies in the world regarding riser applications in the oil and gas industry.
Subseatec handles the management of sales, contract and product development. Products are manufactured by steel-producing companies in Sweden, and the company also works with leading partners and vendors for contractor work.
Subseatec is a member of the Scana Group and can access the resources of other group companies that work on marine risers (PSW Technology), design and advanced surface treatment (Wear Solutions) and material development (Durabler).
Forgings for subsea and riser applications
Based on steel plants, heat-treatment facilities and material development, our company has a unique capability to support subsea companies with products specially designed for increasingly deep waters and corrosive surroundings.
Our company delivers products to the oil and gas industry within three segments as described below.
Work over, production and drilling risers
A riser is a conduit that provides a temporary extension of a subsea oil well to a surface facility. Subseatec provides riser products in the following categories:
- Work over risers
- Production risers
- Drilling risers
Valves, spools and fittings for oil wells
Subseatec delivers products to be used in connection with, or as a part of, Christmas trees on the sea floor. Christmas trees are an assembly of valves, spools and fittings used for oil wells and gas wells.
The products can be divided into the following categories:
- Christmas tree main valve body
- Blowout preventer bodies
- Wellheads
Forged tendons, flanges and connectors
Subseatec delivers the following range of forged products:
- Tendons
- Flanges
- Riser connectors
- Flow line connectors
Material engineering and metallurgical services
Material engineering and metallurgical competence are also part of Subseatec’s product portfolio. Our products are often key components for our customers.
Subseatec supplies components with different degrees of completion, depending on the customers’ requirements. We place an emphasis on research and development to further strengthen the quality of our products and have ongoing cooperation with research institutes in Sweden. Fracture toughness and fatigue testing can be carried out in-house by Durabler.
Durabler is our in-house laboratory focusing on advanced materials testing, verification and process development. Durabler helps Subseatecs customers to get the most out of the materials and products. To bring out the best materials properties, Durabler is a crucial part of the material and process development at Subseatec. The Durabler team consists of highly experienced material scientists and welding engineers who can assist our customers with both testing and material advice.
Our dedicated team is well set to offer applications to oil companies and system/product suppliers globally, with the US representing the largest market. The North Sea, Brazil, West Africa and South-East Asia are also important areas. We understand the latest needs within the oil and gas industry and work hard to be the first choice for our customers.
Subseatec excels in project management. The company’s services combine planning, implementation and management of client projects so that specifications and needs are met.
ID cladding of main bores
Subseatec provides weld overlay full-length ID cladding of long forged riser parts, which protects against corrosion. It also offers this solution for steels that need pre-heating and PWHT. Pieces whose length is 19m and weigh 30t are available.
Material sourcing and forged bar stock
We offer services pertaining to the client’s material sourcing of carbon steels, low alloy steels and stainless steels. In addition to this, Subseatec also helps with certified material by independent bodies such as Lloyds or DNV.
Subseatec works with a wide range of partners and exhibits an extensive knowledge of material management.
Services can include material testing that comprises standard and fatigue with the help of Durabler.
In addition to the above, we carry a premium forged bar stock in grades F22, 4330, F65 and 4130. The sizes range from OD 200mm to 1,100mm and the stock is located in Sweden.
