Trinidad and Tobago-based oil and gas company Trinity Exploration & Production has selected international energy services company Petrofac to carry out a concept-screening study to help advance the development plan for the Galeota Block, offshore east coast Trinidad.

As per the estimates, the Galeota Block holds 2P+2C reserves and resources of 46.1 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Following the drilling of the TGAL-1 exploration well in 2013, Trinity discovered the TGAL area in the Galeota Block located near the existing productive Trintes field.

In a press statement, Trinity said: “To develop multiple reservoirs in the Galeota Block and to do so in a capital efficient manner, Trinity has commissioned Petrofac to undertake a concept-screening study to advance development planning.”

As part of the study, Petrofac will leverage the latest subsurface information to focus on development concepts.

The key elements of the study will cover flexibility to deal with uncertainty of the reservoir and usage of equipment with the potential to relocate around the large Galeota Block.

Trinity noted that the assessment will look into leased mobile offshore production unit concepts such as converted jack-ups or floating production, storage and offloading vessels, as well as other schemes that would be suitable for the Galeota Block development.

Petrofac has started the study, which is due to be completed in September 2023.

Trinity CEO Jeremy Bridglalsingh said: "While our immediate operational focus is on drilling the onshore Jacobin well, we continue to assess plans to unlock the development potential of our Galeota Block, which comprises 69% of our 2P+2C reserves and resources. We look forward to working with Petrofac to progress the concept-screening study."
