Technip Energies and Shell Catalysts & Technologies have reached a global exclusivity agreement to deliver amine-based post-combustion carbon capture using Shell's CANSOLV CO₂ Capture System.

Working since 2012, the alliance of the two companies has evolved to meet the market requirements and make “carbon capture accessible for industry”.

The bolstered alliance combines Shell's technology licensing expertise with Technip Energies’ project delivery capabilities.

This partnership is designed to meet the increasing demand for scalable carbon capture solutions across various industrial sectors.

The companies aim to deliver innovative and investable solutions for their clients.

The alliance’ integrated teams work together with clients for seamless execution and continuous performance optimisation, right from project inception to operational support.

Technip Energies SVP for decarbonisation solutions Christophe Malaurie said: We firmly believe that CCUS [carbon capture, utilisation and storage] will play a critical role in the energy transition, and our alliance will offer an effective model to address the industry’s needs.

By leveraging our combined expertise and unified working approach, we are delivering investable solutions today for global deployment. Through continuous improvement, innovation and standardisation, we are shaping this new industry, and our Canopy by T.EN solutions, powered by Shell’s CANSOLV CO₂ technology, are testament to this ongoing success.”

Shell Catalysts & Technologies general manager decarbonisation Nick Flinn said: Recognising the unique challenges of producing decarbonised energy, power and products profitably and efficiently, the Technip Energies–Shell Catalysts & Technologies alliance is already providing industry-leading CCS [carbon capture and storage] solutions that make a sustainable, positive impact on our clients' facilities.

By moving towards exclusivity, we are confident our alliance will drive the success of our clients’ decarbonisation at scale, shaping the path to a cleaner future and meeting evolving market needs with advanced carbon-capture technology”.

In June this year, US-based oil and gas industry services provider SLB and Aker Carbon Capture finalised the establishment of their carbon capture joint venture.
