Subsea7 has announced the award of a super-major contract by Brazilian company Petrobras for the Búzios 9 field development located off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
Under the contract, Subsea7 will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of 102km of rigid risers and flowlines.
The company plans to immediately commence project management and engineering at its offices in Rio de Janeiro and Paris.
Subsea7 will fabricate the pipelines at its spoolbase in Ubu, Espirito Santo, Brazil. Offshore operations are planned for 2026 and 2027.
Subsea7 defines this as a super-major contract, implying it as being over $1.25bn.
Subsea7 Brazil vice-president Yann Cottart said: “This new award strengthens our diverse portfolio of projects in Brazil and affirms our position as a trusted contractor of Petrobras. Subsea7 looks forward to continuing this strong, collaborative relationship as we work together to successfully deliver the Búzios 9 project.”
The Búzios 9 field is situated about 180km offshore at a water depth of 2,000 metres in the pre-salt Santos basin.
In 2021, Petrobras selected TechnipFMC to provide subsea equipment for the Búzios 6-9 fields offshore Brazil.
The contract covered the supply of subsea trees with controls, electrical and hydraulic distribution units, as well as topside systems.
Recently, Subsea7 secured contract from British oil and gas exploration and production company Serica Energy for the development of the Belinda field in the UK North Sea.
Under the contract, Subsea7 is responsible for comprehensive range of services including project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation EPCI.
Subsea7 will also provide a 5km production pipeline, a piggy-backed gas lift line, and an electro-hydraulic controls umbilical.
