British oil and gas exploration and production company Serica Energy has awarded a ‘sizeable’ contract to Subsea7 for the development of the Belinda field in the UK North Sea.
Under the contract, Subsea7 will be responsible for comprehensive range of services including project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI).
Subsea7 will also provide a 5km production pipeline, a piggy-backed gas lift line, and an electro-hydraulic controls (EHC) umbilical.
Additionally, Subsea7's remit includes the installation of associated subsea structures and tie-ins.
These will connect to the Dana Petroleum-operated Triton floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel through an existing production manifold near the Triton riser base and for controls at the Evelyn valve skid.
Serica Energy-operated Belinda field is located about 190km east of Aberdeen. It lies in a water depth of 95m in the UK Central North Sea, southeast of the Triton FPSO.
Subsea7 plans to carry out project management and engineering work from its office in Aberdeen.
The company defines a contract as sizeable its value ranges between $50m (£39m) and $150m (£117m).
The offshore activities for the Belinda field development are scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.
Subsea7 UK and global inspection, repair and maintenance senior vice-president Steve Wisely said: “We are pleased to have this opportunity to supply Serica Energy with EPCI knowledge and demonstrate the extensive North Sea expertise we have amassed over 50 years. We look forward to supporting the safe, efficient and timely execution of this project.”
Earlier in 2024, Serica secured final approval from the UK North Sea Transition Authority for the Belinda field development.
As per the estimates, the Belinda field has proven and probable reserves of approximately five million barrels of oil equivalent, with oil making up 80% of this figure.
