Singapore-based engineering solutions provider Seatrium has secured a letter of intent (LOI) from BP Exploration & Production for preliminary engineering services on the Kaskida FPU project in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The initial agreement sets the stage for Seatrium's involvement in the anticipated engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract, subject to final terms and bp management approvals.

The Kaskida FPU project is designed to feature a single topside module atop a four-column semi-submersible hull.

The FPU is due to be anchored to subsea production wells in waters around 6,000ft deep within the Keathley Canyon area.

Seatrium said the finalisation of the EPCC contract with bp is contingent upon the establishment of mutually agreed terms and conditions, alongside the final investment decision by bp.

Seatrium oil & gas (international) executive vice-president William Gu said: “We are pleased to secure the letter of intent with bp for the Kaskida development. This award reflects our expertise and successful track record of delivering complex FPUs.

“Over the years, Seatrium has established itself as the market leader in EPC projects for FPUs. We look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the success of the Kaskida project.”

Earlier this year, Seatrium secured a contract from Shell Offshore, a subsidiary of oil and gas major Shell, for the Sparta semi-submersible FPU.

Under the agreement, Seatrium will construct and integrate the hull, topsides and living quarters, along with the installation of Shell-provided equipment.
