Trillion Energy has announced the successful re-completion of wells on the Akcakoca Platform in the SASB gas field in Türkiye.

The operation involved the installation of 2 3/8 velocity string tubing in four existing wells.

The SASB gas field in the south-western Black Sea has produced more than 43bcf since 2007 and plays a vital role in alleviating Europe's energy crisis.

Trillion is redeveloping the field with a 17-plus well programme from 2022.

There is also a phase B that aims for six producing wells by the end of 2024, including five development wells and one stratigraphic well.

The new tubing operation was undertaken to cut down water loading, increase production and improve overall recovery from the wells.

With the tubing strings, the wells are expected to operate at a lower wellhead pressure for a longer duration.

After the installation of the velocity strings, production from Guluc-2 and West Akcakoca-1 resumed and has shown steady improvement, indicating the programme's success in enhancing well performance.

Both wells previously faced production issues and downtime due to water loading with the old 4 1/2 tubing. The Akcakoca-3 well continues to produce with reduced daily water output.

The SASB natural gas field comprises the Guluc-2 and West Akçakoca-1 wells.

The next steps for Trillion include running the velocity strings on two tripod wells and stimulating all wells to enhance reservoir performance.

Choke sizes are being adjusted to cut down water production and increase gas output. The company is injecting nitrogen into wells to remove water buildup as necessary.

Despite delays due to winter weather and the need for additional equipment, Trillion Energy remains optimistic about the positive impact these measures will have on production levels.
