Oceaneering International's Norwegian subsidiary has been awarded an inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) support services contract by oil and gas company Aker BP.

The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The initial three-year agreement includes options for two additional two-year extensions.

Oceaneering said it will commence mobilisation in August, providing comprehensive IMR project support both onshore and offshore to Aker BP's vessels operating on the NCS.

With a history of more than five decades in Norway, Oceaneering offers a wide array of professional services including life-of-field services, controls, decommissioning and ROV services in Norway.

Oceaneering director of offshore projects group, Europe and the Middle East Eli Løberg Mellgren said: “Being awarded the IMR support services contract from Aker BP is a significant achievement. It enables us to leverage our advanced product and service portfolio to deliver a cost-effective solution with a reduced carbon footprint and minimised HSE risk.

“We are excited about the opportunity to work closely with Aker BP and are confident that this project will lead to mutual success and opportunities for innovation.”

Earlier in the month, Oceaneering's Integrity Management and Digital Solutions segment secured a contract to devise a maintenance strategy for a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel destined for offshore Brazil.

Managed from Rio de Janeiro, the project focuses on optimising the vessel's performance and reliability for smooth operations over a two-year period.

The scope encompasses the development of an asset management philosophy and a spare part strategy.

In September 2023, Oceaneering International's Offshore Projects Group segment secured contracts exceeding $100m for offshore projects.

One of the projects was the Girassol Life Extension in Angola, where Oceaneering, as part of a consortium, was tasked with the recovery and replacement of 12 risers.

The company will also provide Angolan personnel and manage the consortium's in-country operations.

Additionally, Oceaneering was selected for a jumper installation project in the Stabroek block, offshore Guyana, where it was tasked with overseeing the installation of jumpers and other subsea field development activities.
