US-based engineering and construction company McDermott has secured a contract from Brazilian oil and gas company Prio, formerly known as PetroRio, for the installation of subsea structures for the Wahoo field offshore Brazil.
Under the contract, McDermott will be responsible for the transportation and installation of around 30km of pipelines and associated subsea structures.
The 10in coated rigid pipelines will be designed to connect the Wahoo field to the Frade floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO).
The Wahoo field is located roughly 30km north of the producing Frade field in the Campos basin offshore Brazil.
The contract also covers an extension option for a second pipeline.
McDermott subsea and floating facilities senior vice-president Mahesh Swaminathan said: "This award is a reflection of our offshore installation expertise in the region.
"Our proven track record in subsea installations, state-of-the-art vessels, technical expertise and collaborative approach positions us well for the successful delivery of this project."
McDermott's team in Rio de Janeiro will undertake the project management and engineering work.
The company plans to use its rigid pipelay vessels for installation activities.
The Wahoo field is expected to produce more than 140 million barrels of hydrocarbons.
Earlier this year, McDermott was selected by Qatargas Operating Company to undertake the engineering, procurement, construction and installation work on its North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) offshore fuel gas pipeline, and COMP1, a subsea cables project.
McDermott will install 190km of 32in-diameter subsea pipelines, 17km of subsea composite cables, 186km-long fibre-optic cables and 10km of onshore pipelines.
