Longitude Engineering, part of ABL Group, has secured a contract to provide detailed design and engineering services for the subsea expansion of Phase-X at the WDDM concession offshore Egypt.

Under the contract, Longitude will be responsible for vessel assurance for cable-laying operations, detailed design of cable routing and crossings, and jumpers design.

The company will also conduct safety studies to support the installation processes and verify fabrication and assurance drawings and reports for mud mats and new jumper designs.

Longitude will deliver these services as a subcontractor to the main engineering, procurement, installation and construction contractor and vessel owner, Petroleum Marine Services (PMS).

Longitude Engineering offshore project director Daniel McGowan said: “We are delighted to collaborate with PMS to provide the detailed design and engineering support for this deepwater project.

“We believe that the project highlights our ability to quickly develop and manage remote teams, ensuring client expectations are met through the life cycle of the project.”

The WDDM concession forms part of the Burullus Gas Field in the Mediterranean Sea.

The concession is expected to enhance gas production to meet domestic demand and supply the Egyptian Liquefied Natural Gas plant.

Located approximately 90km offshore Egypt, the WDDM concession is a critical source of natural gas, with numerous fields and reservoirs already discovered.

In a press statement, Longitude said: “Burullus Gas Company is continuing the expansion of the WDDM facilities through the current phase of the development known as WDDM Phase-X.

“Phase-X includes three subsea wells being brought online to supplement the existing 70 wells currently in production, at water depth ranging from 450m to 660m.”
