Contractor HOT Engineering And Construction Company (HOTECC), a subsidiary of Tripple-E, has secured an award letter to provide maintenance services at the Mina Abdullah (MAB) refinery in Kuwait.

The letter has been awarded by Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), a subsidiary of the state-owned holding company Kuwait Petroleum Corporate (KPC).

Under the contract, HOTECC will provide maintenance services for electrical, firefighting, and sirens systems for the refinery.

The contract has a period of five years.

HOTECC Oil & Gas Division general manager Surendra Bhatia said: “We are very happy to join hands once again with KNPC on this important project.

“This collaboration exemplifies HOTECC’s commitment to delivering top-notch services, and our ability to meet the diverse needs of the industry.

Earlier this year, Kuwait-based Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company (HEISCO) secured $280m (Kd86.8m) worth contract to provide mechanical maintenance service at the MAB refinery, reported TradeArabia News Service

Located 53km South of Kuwait City, the refinery has production capacity of 270,000 barrels per day (bpd).

Designed to refine high sulfur heavy crude oil, the refinery comprises 27 process units and 85 storage tanks.

The refinery is equipped to produce petroleum by-products of coke, fuel oil, kerosene, low-sulphur gas-oil, naphtha and sulphur.

Recently, Reuters reported that Kuwait Oil Minister Saad Al Barrak unveiled new strategy to boost the nation’s oil and gas production and advance the development of the Durra gas field.

The announcement forms part of the government-backed KPC 2040 strategy.

By 2035, KPC aims to increase total oil production capacity to four million barrels per day.

Kuwait is estimated to have 100 billion barrels of oil reserves.
