Texas LNG, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Energy Transition, has announced a partnership with Gulf LNG Tugs to build and operate a fleet of eco-friendly tug-boats.

The vessels will assist LNG carriers at the company's planned 4mtpa export facility in the Port of Brownsville.

The agreement aligns with Texas LNG's 'Green by Design' ethos, ensuring the tug-boats will be among the most modern and low-emission options available.

Gulf LNG Tugs, a consortium comprising Suderman & Young Towing Company, Bay-Houston Towing and Moran Towing Corporation, will deliver tug-boats under a long-term agreement.

These vessels will support the reliable delivery of US LNG to global markets.

In a joint statement, Gulf LNG Tugs partners said: “Gulf LNG Tugs is excited to be providing marine services in a long-term partnership with Texas LNG.

“We are proud to be the exclusive tug operator for LNG vessels to yet another successful LNG project in the Port of Brownsville and look forward to expanding our operations in the port and our presence in the Rio Grande Valley community.”

Texas LNG is on track to secure project financing later this year, with construction expected to commence shortly after financial closure is achieved.

Recently, Texas LNG signed a heads of agreement with EQT Corporation for 0.5mtpa of LNG liquefaction services.

The Texas LNG export terminal in the Port of Brownsville is due to start production in late 2027 or early 2028.

Texas LNG also formed partnerships with Baker Hughes and ABB, with equipment selections exceeding $500m to date.
