Oil and gas company Equinor has awarded two contracts for its operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

DeepOcean, an ocean services provider, has been selected by Equinor to support the Troll B – Increased Gas Export project.

The Troll B- Increased Gas Export project, which is located in the northern North Sea, entails replacing the Troll B platform's existing 15" gas export riser with a new 13" gas export riser.

DeepOcean’s scope of the contract comprises engineering, shipping, and installation of the gas export riser, as well as subsea tie-ins and pre-commissioning support.

The Troll B riser replacement project will be managed and engineered by DeepOcean's Stavanger office, with assistance from the company's Haugesund branch in Norway.

The Edda Freya installation vessel, which is leased to DeepOcean, will be used for offshore activities in 2024.

According to Equinor, the Troll field is the foundation of Norwegian gas production as it has around 40% of the total gas reserves on the NCS.

Equinor commercial director Europe Rolf Ivar Sørdal said: “We believe this award recognizes our solid performance on previous riser replacement jobs for Equinor. We look forward to collaborating with Equinor to ensure that the Troll B project too is successfully and safely executed.”

The second contract was awarded to Ocean Installer and covers work at Visund, Vigdis, Åsgard fields and the Northern Lights CO₂ Pipeline.

As per the award, Ocean Installer will replace the riser at Vigdis, Visund, and Sgard, with engineering work starting right away.

Additionally, the project's scope includes two MORGRIP connections using Equinor's pipeline repair system spread, one at Vigdis as part of the riser replacement, and the other connecting the offshore section of the Northern Lights CO₂ pipeline and the CO₂ terminal in Øygarden.

Ocean Installer CEO Kevin Murphy said: “This award adds to our long track record of SLM work with Equinor, going back ten years since the first award in 2013.”
