China is anticipated to be at the forefront of global plastics capacity additions by 2030. This growth is expected to be driven by rapid urbanisation, increasing construction activities, an expansive manufacturing sector, and heightened domestic demand for plastics across the thriving industries in the country.
By 2030, there are a total of 91 under-construction projects in China that are expected to add a total capacity of 33.59 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). The major capacity addition is from 'Zhejiang Petrochemical Daishan ABS Plant 2', located in Zhejiang. The project is expected to come online in 2025 with a capacity of 1.20mtpa.
'Fujian Eversun New Material Putian Polypropylene Plant 1' and 'Fujian Eversun New Material Putian Polypropylene Plant 2' are the other two projects that represent significant capacity additions in the country. They are expected to come online in 2025 and 2026, respectively, with a capacity of 0.90mtpa and 1.10mtpa. 'Fujian Eversun New Material' is the operator of these two projects with a 100% equity stake.
