Energy giant BP has forged a global strategic alliance with Worley to enhance efficiency and value creation within its global site projects.

Over a period of two years, the partnership is expected to save approximately $40m in regions where Worley holds service contracts.

By leveraging digital capabilities and global scale, the partnership will focus driving further efficiencies in engineering, procurement, construction development and management.

The alliance is poised to deliver significant savings and efficiencies in the Gulf of Mexico, Oman, Mauritania, Senegal, refineries in Cherry Point and Whiting in the US, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and Gelsenkirchen and Lingen in Germany.

The strategic collaboration builds on a decade-long relationship between the companies and combines technical expertise in a tight resource market.

BP site projects vice-president Niall Maguire said: “We remain focused on improving safety, reducing emissions, high-value activity and reducing cost.

“This alliance increases our operational effectiveness through centralisation, standardisation and simplification, helping us safely grow the value of bp.”

Earlier this year, Worley signed a five-year global framework agreement to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for bp's refinery assets and new energy ventures.

Worley also maintains EPC contracts across bp's upstream businesses.

Worley EMEA and APAC group president Mark Brantley said: “This alliance builds on our successful partnership in the Site Projects Efficiency Plan (SPEP) over the past two years where we have worked together to drive down costs across bp’s global operations.

“Our shared history and values position us well to identify and implement solutions as we continue to create value and deliver sustainable change throughout bp’s portfolio of projects.”

Last year, Worley secured a contract to offer services to Shell’s operations across the globe.

The three-year enterprise framework agreement was awarded by Shell subsidiary Shell Global Solutions International.
