British oil and gas company BP has formed a multi-year engineering services partnership with India’s L&T Technology Services (LTTS).

The alliance will focus on enhancing the operational performance of the energy company.

LTTS said the areas of partnership will include project engineering, technical writing, engineering data management, turnarounds, maintenance enhancements and sustainability initiatives.

L&T Technology Services CEO & managing director Amit Chadha said: "We are thrilled to forge this strategic partnership with bp. This long-term relationship allows us to provide services for their global assets, emphasising top-tier operational efficiency through digital enablement.

“Our proven track record in high-quality engineering services and digital transformation solutions underscores our position as a trusted partner for bp."

In May this year, bp selected Infosys, also an Indian company, to serve as its partner for end-to-end application services.

The deal between bp and Infosys built on their existing alliance and was valued at approximately $1.5bn (£1.2bn).

Through the partnership with Infosys, bp said it aims to “accelerate its digital transformation and scale growth through tech-enabled operations”.

At the time, the energy company also said it will keep looking for new ways to promote its social impact, diversity, equity, inclusion and sustainability programmes in collaboration with Infosys.

By the year 2050, or before, bp wants to achieve net zero across its operations.

Last month, bp signed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with Oman LNG.

Starting in 2026, Oman LNG will supply one million tonnes per annum of LNG to bp for a period of nine years.

This week, bp challenged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s approval for Venture Global LNG’s Louisiana export facility.
