TechnipFMC has secured an integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (iEPCI) contract from BP for the Kaskida development in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The contract encompasses the design and fabrication of subsea production systems including 20,000psi standardised subsea trees and manifolds.

It follows an integrated front-end engineering and design study by TechnipFMC for the Kaskida project.

The scope of the latest contract extends to the design, production and installation of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines.

TechnipFMC Subsea president Jonathan Landes said: “Our innovative high-pressure solutions are key to helping unlock the most economically attractive opportunities in the Paleogene.

“Kaskida is our latest iEPCI project with BP and is emblematic of our long-standing collaboration. Through early engagement, we are leveraging the breadth of our technological and integration capabilities to help bp successfully deliver Kaskida.”

Last week, Enbridge and Shell announced separate initiatives to construct pipelines servicing the Kaskida project.

Enbridge's dual pipeline system will enable the transportation of crude oil and natural gas, while Shell's Rome Pipeline will facilitate oil exports from the Kaskida hub.

BP announced the final investment decision for the Kaskida project in July 2024 and it is expected to produce up to 80,000 barrels per day of crude oil from six initial wells, with production due to begin in 2029.
