Energy technology company Baker Hughes has secured a contract from Italian company Eni and its partner, Ivorian state-owned national oil and gas company Petroci, to deploy its deepwater technology for the Baleine Phase 2 project offshore Ivory Coast.

Under the contract, Baker Hughes will deliver three Aptara manifolds, the relevant subsea production control system, and flexible risers and jumpers for Phase 2 of the project.

The scope of the contract includes delivery of a configured-to-order product portfolio across subsea production and flexible pipe systems.

In a press statement, the company said: “These deepwater trees and manifolds, supplemented with subsea production controls and flexible pipe systems, provide efficiency and cost-effectiveness under demanding conditions. Their modular design aids in reducing lead times, vital for the economic feasibility of such projects.”

The company added that the contract strengthens its presence in West Africa while unlocking significant growth potential in Ivory Coast.

The Baleine oil and gas field, which spans the CI-101 and CI-802 blocks, is claimed to be the largest hydrocarbon discovery made in Ivory Coast.

As per the estimates, the discovery holds 2.5 billion barrels of oil and 3.3 trillion cubic feet of associated gas.

Baker Hughes oilfield services & equipment executive vice-president Maria Claudia Borras said: “This collaboration between Baker Hughes and Eni is Africa’s first development project with clear scope 1 and 2 carbon-reduction goals and will deliver innovative technology that will enhance the energy security in Ivory Coast.”
